The specifications between the three high-end devices are largely similar, with Samsung taking out a large number to differentiate itself. Large batteries, more RAM, and high-resolution cameras are the norm for Android's flagship products, but the Galaxy S20 + and Galaxy S20 Ultra take it to a new level. Despite these huge numbers from Samsung, the iPhone 11 Pro Max seems to compete well and can offer better value for money at the lowest price.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max has a matrix of three sensors on the back of the phone and a TrueDepth camera system on the front. All cameras have 12MP sensors that support 4K HDR video and 1080p slow motion video. When recording at 30 frames per second, the iPhone uses its fast neural engine to take different exposures every two frames and merge them into videos at 30 frames per second, thereby expanding the dynamic range.
The iPhone 11 Pro Max has one of the most qualified camera systems in the industry. Each sensor and lens is factory calibrated to ensure that every photo and video is accurate and there are no distortions or changes when switching between them.
Software functions such as Live Photo, Portrait Mode and even Animoji are based on Apple's fine-tuning of its cameras and its neural engine. For the iPhone, it's less about the technical data of the paper than the experience and the final result.
Samsung Galaxy S20 +
The Samsung Galaxy S20 + has four sensors on the back of the phone and a single camera on the front. The rear sensors consist of three cameras and a time-of-flight sensor. The ultra wide angle and wide angle lens is comparable to the iPhone 11 Pro Max and also has 12MP. The telephoto lens is turned sideways and uses a mirror to allow a greater distance between the lens and sensor, which creates a 3x optical zoom at 64 MP.
What is drawing attention here is obviously this 64 megapixel camera and its 8K video capacity. If you shoot with the telephoto lens, you can use the "Super Resolution Zoom" of the Samsung ML and zoom up to 30 times. This is achieved by 10x digital cropping and 3x optical zoom, just like the iPhone has its own 10x zoom with 5x cut and 2x optical zoom.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra
While the iPhone and the Galaxy phone have impressive features and specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra removes all stops. It has the same set of four rear sensors and a single front camera, but with the maximum specifications. Only the ultra-wide sensor and the TOF remain identical to the Galaxy S20 + in this device.
The telephoto lens turns sideways, but the additional optics convert it to a 10x optical zoom. This means that in combination with the 10x digital zoom you can get a massive combined 100x zoom! Although impressive, the demonstrations show that the loss of detail in this area is very significant and a tripod may be required to prevent the movement of the hands from ruining the photos. An impressive specification, to say the least.
The standard wide-angle camera is expanded to up to 108 MP. At first glance, this may seem like a mistake or a typo, but Samsung assures us that it's a real 108MP sensor. However, there is a warning, so no real 108MP photos are taken, at least not by default. Samsung has implemented a newer technology called "pixel grouping" that essentially combines pixels when taking a photo.
Because this device uses an aspect ratio of 9 to 1 pixels, it ends up with a 12 MP photo, but due to the process, it ends up with a more detailed and better-lit photo. Some practical tests are required to determine if this leads to noticeable quality improvements or if it is just another set of large numbers.
The front camera of the Galaxy S20 Ultra also shows a sharp increase in technical data. When using 4 to 1 pixel binning, this camera has a 40 megapixel sensor and takes 10 megapixel selfies. The front camera can also record in 4K on both Samsung devices.
The software functions include Samsung's own portrait mode for the front and rear cameras. The reversing camera can use its time-of-flight sensor for more precise detection of objects and bokeh. The new "Single Take" feature, introduced during the Galaxy Unboxed event, allows users to move their phone through a scene for 10 seconds while an ML algorithm takes photos and videos in various formats. The end result is a number of different media that the user can use and share without having to decide which function to use at the moment.
4G, 5G and mm waves

Although the style of photography, software, operating system and other factors play a more important role in the decision of buyers than anything else, it should be noted that the experiences promised on paper do not perfectly reflect reality.
Because of these limitations and warnings that come with almost all of the announced new features, it's difficult to say whether Samsung has really gained an advantage over the iPhone. The Galaxy S20 + is $ 100 more expensive than the base for the iPhone 11 Pro and has very similar specs. For $ 50 more than the Galaxy S20 +, consumers can buy an iPhone 11 Pro Max with twice as much internal storage.
